The Fairey Band has announced that composer and conductor Tom Davoren has accepted the role of Associate Conductor with the Stockport band.

Creative team

The recently appointed MD of Desford Colliery Band and of newly crowned First Section National Champion Filton Concert, will work closely with Fairey's Musical Director, Garry Cutt to create an exciting creative team at the core of the band’s future aspirations.

Input

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "Together they will build on our successful conducting model which has seen Garry and Tom share input into concert programming and contest preparation since early this year, with their first official project the release of Fairey's forthcoming CD."

They added: "Everyone feels a real affinity with Tom which we are sure is reciprocated, so it is great news to be able to secure the relationship further."

Thrilled

Tom Davoren added: "I'm thrilled to have been invited to take on the role, and especially excited to work alongside Garry.

The current blend of talented personal, solid organisation and progressive creative team make for a genuinely enjoyable and vibrant place to be.

I'm hopeful that we can make 2015 the start of yet another great period for Fairey, especially through some exciting projects on the concert stage."

I’m delighted that Tom is joining Fairey. He will be a very important piece in the creative jigsaw, as well as enhancing the stability and continuity of our work ethic in the bandroomMD, Garry Cutt

Building

Garry Cutt is also looking forward to building further on the foundation of success he has built in recent years with the band.

"I’m delighted that Tom is joining Fairey. He will be a very important piece in the creative jigsaw, as well as enhancing the stability and continuity of our work ethic in the bandroom.

He is very assured in what he wants musically and the players respond accordingly. Tom will be a great asset to us both as conductor composer and arranger."
