Gorbals youth help Pudsey appeal

Gorbals Youth Band has played its part in helping raise money for the BBC Children in Need appeal this year.

The Gorbals Youth Brass Band has recently been involved in a recording for the BBC’s flagship charity fund raising initiative, ‘Children in Need’.

Chosen

Out of the 2,600 projects who have gained support through the charity in the last year, the band was chosen to help with the official fundraising single for 2014.

Well known television choirmaster Gareth Malone and an array of untrained voices from the world of television, sport and theatre have recorded the vocals to the official track, 'Wake Me Up', with the band providing their musical contribution at a recent recording session in Glasgow.

Now the single is out there to be bought with proceeds going to help the BBC with its fundraising4BR

Intense practice

Gareth taught the melody and various harmony parts to the band made up of students primarily from the local Saint Francis and Blackfriars Primary schools, and after three hours of intense practice and recording, Gareth had lots of perfect 'takes' to work with.

Now the single is out there to be bought with proceeds going to help the BBC with its fundraising.
