Sandhurst Silver has announced the signing of experienced euphonium player Andrew Porter, following his move to take up the position of Bandmaster of the Irish Guards Band.

Experience

Andrew joins his wife Carol in the band and brings with him the experience gained of playing with the likes of Morecambe, Friary Guildford, Yorkshire Building Society and Leyland Bands.

Musicianship

A spokesperson told 4BR: "The band are once again thrilled at being able to capture a player who not only brings outstanding playing ability but true musicianship and the experience with him."

The band has also paid thanks to former principal euphonium Matt Spriggs, following four years of excellent service with them.

Matt will sit alongside Andrew until after the 2015 Areas, when he will be moving to Derbyshire with his family.
