Evans elixir sees return to youth

Richard Evans will once again team up with the National Youth Brass Bands of Scotland in 2015.

Richard Evans

The Scottish Brass Band Association has announced that Richard Evans has accepted the position of Musical Director Emeritus of the National Youth Brass Bands of Scotland.

Welcome return

The appointment will mark a welcome return to the band that until this year he had helped shape with his musical direction for well over 20 years.

Richard, who recently celebrated his 80th birthday, will conduct all three bands at their end of Summer Course concert at Dunblane Cathedral in August next year.

Delighted

Newly elected SBBA President, Carrie Boax, told 4BR: "I am personally delighted that Richard will be back at NYBBS again.

He is a very much loved and respected member of the NYBBS family who all at SBBA believe still has so much to offer the young brass and percussion players that come from all over Scotland, England and Isle of Man to join us each year."

Confident

Carrie added: "With a strong conducting team and returning group of first class tutors, I am confident that our aim of providing our young musicians with a first class social and educational experience will certainly be achieved."

Applications

Applications (which can be downloaded from www.sbba.org.uk) are already being accepted for the 2015 Easter and Summer courses.
