Two abreast for Troms against Cancer

Composers Leigh Baker and Simon Kerwin sign up together to write music for the Trombones Against Breast Cancer initiative at Butlins.

Troms in action

Kevin Holdgate’s, ‘Trombones against Breast Cancer’ massed ensemble initiative, which will take place at the Butlins Mineworkers Championship in Skegness in January, has announced that two well known brass band composers will compose pieces for the fund raising event.

Leigh and Simon

Joining Darrol Barry in writing something for the occasion are Leigh Baker and Simon Kerwin, with Kevin telling 4BR that he is delighted that such respected composers are using their talents to help raise the profile of the initiative.

“I’m really pleased that Leigh and Simon have both offered to compose new works for the Butlins Massed Trombone Choir,” he said.

“I’ve spoken to other eminent composers recently and I’m very confident that there will be a number of further announcements over the coming weeks.”

Kevin is still hoping that yet more trombone players will contact him to play their part in the occasion.
