A film about the history and links between Foden’s and its local community in Elworth is to be premiered later this month in the famous Cheshire band’s home town of Sandbach.
Brass in the Blood
'Brass in the Blood' is a full length movie telling the Foden’s Band story through the eyes of a young player called Harry Stone, and traces the development of the band from 1908 to 2012.
The story is set in and around the small towns where Foden’s has been based since originally being formed in 1900, and is the innovative brainchild of Producer/Composer (and former Foden’s percussionist) Adam Shilton.
Perform soundtrack
The film project forms part of his PhD composition studies at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Foden’s will also perform the soundtrack to the film live at the premiere and hope to complete a CD/DVD recording in 2016.
Amazing achievements
Adam told 4BR: "The most significant element has been finding and recruiting an outstanding production team and cast. I feel bringing local people, education and businesses on board has allowed a more detailed understanding of Foden's and their amazing achievements.
Their commitment and professionalism has delivered a wonderful film, which documents the band’s incredible history for future generations."
This film is a great opportunity to show their versatility, injecting new ideas for brass composition and performanceAdam Shilton
Time and place
The premiere will take place on Saturday the 25th October at Sandbach Boys School (7.30pm), where both Foden’s and the Foden’s Youth Band will perform and be filmed playing movie related music as well as excerpts from the film itself.
Adam concluded: “Working with Fodens and their partners has been an absolute honour.
Brass bands are traditionally stereotyped but are musically capable of so much more. This film is a great opportunity to show their versatility, injecting new ideas for brass composition and performance."
