The University of Salford and its partners have issued a final reminder that entries for their prestigious International Composers Competition must be received by the closing date of 31st October.
High quality
Entries have already been received from Australia, Switzerland, Canada, United States and the UK, with judges Paul Lovatt-Cooper, Dr Howard Evans and Dan Price delighted with the quality of works received in the two competition categories for Youth Band and Advanced (Championship) Band.
The aim of the competition is to encourage a new generation of composers to become involved in the brass band genre, using musical sources and inspiration from their own cultural backgrounds.
Short list
A short list of composers will be invited to an open rehearsal to hear their composition on Wednesday 12th November at Peel Hall, at the University of Salford.
Finalists will have their work performed at 1.00pm again at Peel Hall.
