Radio: Listen to the Band

Plenty of music to listen to with Frank in the run up to Christmas...

On air

Listen to the Band
18th December:

Frank Renton goes ‘Walking in the Air’ with Grimethorpe, enjoys some 'sweet rejoicing' with London Brass and celebrates the ‘12 Days of Christmas’ with the Brass Band of Battle Creek.

Listen to the Band
11th December:

Recorded at the recent National Championships, this is Black Dyke in concert with conductor Nicholas Childs in the Royal Albert Hall just before they were announced as winners.

Principal cornet Richard Marshal plays the classic ‘Miss Blue Bonnett’, whilst Gary Curtain unveils ‘Carnival of Venus’ — a new set of variations by Jonathan Bates on a long established tune.

We hear the Black Dyke ‘ Big Band Set’ ending with music by one of the most popular composers today, ‘Fire in the Blood’ by Paul Lovatt-Cooper.

Listen to the Band
4th December:

Frank Renton with Cory and Foden's Bands in concert at the Sunday Brass Gala in Symphony Hall following the recent British Open Championship.

Organiser Bram Gay recalls his long association with the Open and his playing days with the famous Mortimer family who still run the event.

Listen to the Band
27th November:

Frank Renton talks to Steven Mead, one of the great globetrotting euphonium players of today, as his solo CD ‘Pearls’ continues to push the musical boundary of his instrument.
