Composer Darrol Barry is to support the ‘Trombones against Breast Cancer’ appeal at the 2015 Butlins Mineworkers Championship, by writing a special work for the massed ensemble performance.
The highly respected composer and arranger (above) currently lives and works in Oman, but has generously offered to write the work to lend support to the charitable cause.
Kind
Event organiser Kevin Holdgate told 4BR: "I’ve been really pleased with the initial response to play with the Butlins Massed Trombone Choir, and have also received a number of very kind donations to the Breast Cancer Research Campaign.
I’m delighted that Darrol has agreed to compose a piece specifically for the event. It has given things a huge boost and having spoken to a number of other eminent composers recently, I’m confident of making further musical announcements over the coming weeks."
Donate and support
If players wish to take part then all they have to do is get in touch with Kevin (details below) or, if anyone wishes to donate, go to: https://www.justgiving.com/Kevin-Holdgate/
The funds raised will be donated to the Breast Cancer Campaign through the wonderful ladies of Boobs & Brass who have already raised over £125, 000 for the charity.
