The headquarters of the Bilton Silver Band in Rugby has recently become a lot cooler, thanks to the installation of an air conditioning system.
Two internal wall-mounted air conditioning units with externally-mounted condensers have now been installed in the band room and community hall.
Funding
The Veolia Environmental Trust, in addition to providing £75,000 of funding for the original building programme, has again supported the project, awarding a grant of £5,000 through the Landfill Communities Fund, with the Heart of England Co-operative Society providing the balance of funding required.
Windows closed
Planning regulations and the proximity of nearby residents mean that all doors and windows must remain closed during band rehearsals and other activities where noise might be an issue.
The installation of the air conditioning means that band members and others from the community can now use the hall in comfort with the doors and windows closed, even in hot weather.
Minimal disturbance
Band Treasurer Ian Bowles told 4BR: "We are delighted that the work has been completed. The band and other community groups are now able to use the facility in a pleasant and comfortable environment with minimal disturbance to our neighbours."

Enjoyed
The Executive Director of The Veolia Environmental Trust, Paul Taylor, added: "It is great to hear that these improvements, which will benefit both the people using the building and residents living nearby, are now complete.
I hope that the cooler hall is used and enjoyed by the communities of Bilton, Rugby and the surrounding areas for many years to come."
