Newly restored by the BFI National Archive and featuring a new score by award winning composer Simon Dobson, performed by The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines, it opens in selected cinemas on 17th October, after already receiving a great deal of critical acclaim.
Thrilling reconstruction
The 1927 film commemorates the centenary of the outbreak of World War One, and is a thrilling reconstruction of two decisive naval battles from the early stages of the conflict which took place on 1st November 1914 and the Battle of the Falkland Islands on 8th December 1914.
