Ahead of 20 performances of ‘The Legend of King Arthur’ at the Royal Albert Hall in London next weekend, there was a premiere of another Peter Meechan composition at Accrington Town Hall last weekend of his ‘Letters for Home’, performed by the East Lancashire Concert Band.
Pals
The composer was in the packed audience to hear his evocative work, which commemorates the sacrifice of the Accrington ‘Pals’ Regiment in the First World War.
Lead trumpeter Nick Holme told 4BR: “I bumped into the composer on his way out and he said that was moved the performance.”
