Holling to lead Dyke after Nationals

David Holling will take over the MD duties at Foss Dyke Band after their appearance at the National Finals in Cheltenham this weekend.

Foss Dyke

The Foss Dyke Band has announced the appointment of David Holling as their new Musical Director.

Excited

Band secretary Vikki Oates told 4BR: "We are excited at the prospect of working with a conductor of David’s undoubted calibre, who we are sure will take the band to the next level.

Foss Dyke and Dronfield Bands have a long history of moving up through the sections together back in the 1990’s and the two became great friends as well as rivals.

With a shared MD it will be fantastic to spur one another on to the higher sections once again."

Promoted

Foss Dyke’s current MD Gareth Westwood is leaving the band after their appearance at the National Finals at the weekend. As a serving member of the British Army he has been recently promoted and is being posted away from the band’s base in Lincolnshire.

"We are excited at the prospect of working with a conductor of David’s undoubted calibre, who we are sure will take the band to the next levelBand secretary Vikki Oates

Giant leaps

Vikki added: "With Gareth’s positive directing style and ability the band have made giant leaps toward their goal of returning to the First Section.

The Band will certainly miss Gareth and we wish him every success in his military and musical career."
