Commuters on the train between Brighouse and King’s Cross got a bit of a loud early morning wake-up call on Tuesday with a special musical launch of the popular Brass Factor contest.
Special performance
Event sponsors Grand Central and founder Alex Bray (above) celebrated the launch of this year’s event with a special performance to persuade commuters to buy tickets before embarking on their journey.
After the success of last year’s competition, Brass Factor has moved to the Engine Shed venue in Wetherby in just a few weeks time, so it was appropriate that Wardle Academy Band led the advertising push at Brighouse station on Tuesday before boarding the 7.19am train to King’s Cross to serenade commuters.
Delighted
Alex told 4BR: "We’re delighted that Grand Central is once again sponsoring Brass Factor — demonstrating their commitment to music and youth brass.
I’m extremely excited about this new opportunity for the contest as we begin the run down to Brass Factor 2014."

Experience
Gwen Smith, of Wardle Academy added: "We are really excited about being involved with this year’s Brass Factor and the great experiences that this is creating for our young musicians. I’m delighted that such a young band can go along to the Brass Factor and gain valuable experience."
