Intrepid members of Maltby Miners Welfare Band recently took to the hills to complete the famous Peak District Challenge, a demanding 30km walk over the Derbyshire moors.
Not easy
Determined not to make it easy for themselves the players also took along their instruments and performed a trio of mini concerts at Curber Edge, Padley Gorge and Higger Tor, much to the delight and bemusement of passing walkers.

Music
A spokesperson told 4BR: "To add a true brass band flavour to our trek we decided to start and finish with a march. Some of the performance highlights include ‘Danny Boy’, ‘Abide with Me’, ‘Daydream Believer’ and of course ‘The Champions’ as we finished."
The band who also videoed their efforts, also raised money for the ‘Fragile X Society’ in memory of a fellow bandsman Dave Smith who sadly passed away at Christmas.
