New MD takes the helm at Kirkby Lonsdale

Gordon Clough is the new man at the helm of Kirkby Lonsdale Band following the retirement of Allan Greenwood.

Yorks Railway Institute

Kirkby Lonsdale Band has announced the appointment of its new Musical Director.

Experience

Gordon Clough will take up conducting duties next week following an accomplished trombone playing career that has seen him play with the likes of Wingates, Leyland and Kings of Brass.

He has also enjoyed a successful conducting career, taking Darwen Band the Fourth to top sections in just six years before enjoying spells with the likes of Freckleton, Dallmelington and Longridge.

Involved

The band is also pleased that retiring MD, Allan Greenwood will remain involved with the Kirkby Lonsdale Brass Academy which is being launched in September.

Allan joined Kirkby in December 1978 and has led the band to success not only in national and local competitions but also at numerous community events.

Allan will be a difficult act to follow and the band members are all very grateful for his hard work and commitment over the yearsBusiness Manager Ken Talbot
