The sight loss charity, the Royal National Institute of Blind People, has launched a national competition to find its new audio logo.
Audio logo
The RNIB has recently introduced a refreshed visual identity and is now looking for an audio logo to complement it.
The new audio logo will be used across all the charity’s films and audio communications and will need to reflect the organisation’s positive can-do values in just a few seconds.
Over 100 people in the UK suffer a form of permanent sight loss each day.
Judges
Andrea Begley, winner of the BBC’s ‘The Voice’ competition, will be on the judging panel alongside Live Aid organiser and concert promoter Harvey Goldsmith. The shortlist will then go to the public vote in November.
Key part
James Risdon, RNIB’s music officer, told 4BR: "At RNIB, blind people are at the heart of everything we do, so it makes absolute sense that we have an audio logo as well as a visual one. For people who have sight loss, like me, audio is a key part of a brand’s identity.
We hope that in time people will come to associate the audio logo with RNIB and our values; think the McDonald’s ‘I’m lovin’ it’ jingle or Apple’s start-up chime."

Opportunity
He added: "We hope that aspiring musicians, whether they have sight loss or not, see this as an opportunity to develop their skills and experience in composing, recording and producing to help us shape our audio identity."
Details
The competition is open to any UK resident over the age of 18 and the deadline is 30th September.
