Marquee signing for Hatfield

Sop star Gary Bates heads to Hatfield from Carlton Main as Yorkshire qualifiers make marquee signing ahead of Cheltenham finals.

Hatfield Band

The Hatfield Band has announced a number of key signings as they prepare for their appearance at the First Section National Finals in Cheltenham next month.

Soprano star

The vastly experienced soprano star Gary Bates (righgt) joins from Carlton Main Frickley Colliery, whilst Gareth Steenkeen adds strength to the front row team and Steve Fisher comes into the euphonium section.

Gareth and Steve really boost the strength in depth...and Gary is a player whose reputation sits firmly among the upper echelons of the brass band movementStan Lippeatt

Great signings

With the signing of Gary Bates as is the ‘marquee signing’, no wonder MD Stan Lippeatt was a happy man when he told 4BR: "These players are great signings for the band.

Gareth and Steve really boost the strength in depth which I feel is the key to building contest performances, and Gary is a player whose reputation sits firmly among the upper echelons of the brass band movement. It’s a real coup for him to join us."
