York Railway Band

York Railway Institute Band will be heading to the National Finals in Cheltenham in a few weeks time boosted by a cornet section that will be producing the world beating sound of Geneva Instruments.

Symphony

The players recently received delivery of their new Geneva ‘Symphony’ cornets and had a great time putting them through their paces at rehearsal.

Impressed

York RI Band MD Chris Hirst told 4BR: "Everyone was uplifted by the experience and so impressed with the quality of the instruments.

The players also received expert advice and insight into the design of the cornets from Geneva, which immediately gave them a better understanding of their instrument’s amazing capabilities."

Brilliant

Chris added: "The Geneva cornets have instantly improved the overall sound of an already impressive section, giving greater depth of tone quality with crystal clear articulation and quite brilliant clarity in the upper register.

Everyone was able to get to grips with the design of the new cornets, particularly the fantastic main slide triggers. Tuning shouldn’t be an issue for us now!"

King's Lie

The band was especially impressed by the turnaround time it took for the instruments to make their way to them — perfect in fact for that all important trip to Cheltenham, where they hope they will add that little bit extra to their performance of 'A King's Lie'.

"I can't thank Geneva Instruments enough for making the purchase of the new cornets possible and for giving York RI Band such a fantastic boost," Chris concluded. "It’s been an absolutely brilliant experience!"

Delighted

A Geneva spokesperson added: "We are delighted that York Railway Institute Band has chosen the ‘Symphony’ cornets, and so pleased with the immediate improvement to the section that they have experienced.

The band room visits we offer are extremely popular and vitally important to get a true feel for how the instruments perform."

Important

They added: "All our customers appreciate this service and find that they can make a more informed purchasing decision.

We encourage all bands considering renewing or upgrading instruments get in touch and take advantage of a visit from one of our representatives."
