Judges announced for 2015 North West Regional

The men and women who will be in the Area boxes in Blackpool next year have been announced.

The North West Regional Championships Committee has announced the panel of adjudicators that will be used for the 2015 Area contests to be held on Sunday 1st March at the Blackpool’s Winter Gardens.

Top section

Alan Morrison, the Chairman of the Association of Brass Band Adjudicators, will have a busy couple of high profile weekends in the box, as he joins the experienced conductor and cornet player David Hirst in deciding who qualifies for the Royal Albert Hall.

The following week he will be judging the top section in the Midlands.

Experience

Meanwhile, the experienced conducting duo of Foden’s MD Michael Fowles and David Lancaster will cast their opinions over the contenders in the First Section, with Gordon Higginbottom and Simone Rebello taking care of the Second Section.

Welcome

Mike Kilroy (who is in the First & Fourth Section in the Midlands) has been asked to add the Third Section set work to his adjudication CV, as he joins Brian Rostron in the Third Section, whilst in a welcome move, Saraha Groarke-Booth, who led Potters Bar to the National Fourth Section title in 2004, joins Ian Brownbill for the Fourth Section.

Entry forms

Entry forms for the 2015 contests will be sent out towards the end of October.

Bands are reminded to ensure any change of Band Secretary is notified to Peter Bates, Regional Secretary.

Rushden Town Band

November 25 • Trombone Player. This friendly band is looking for a tenor trombone player to join its ranks. The band enjoys playing at regular concerts each year and is off to the Rhineland next year on its second tour.


Chinnor Silver

November 25 • You need to be quick, we are almost full but just require Eb bass and percussion. We are a friendly, welcoming and ambitious band and start 2025 at the top of our second section ranking table. We rehearse on a Wed evening in our own bandroom in Chinnor.


Hathersage Band

November 25 • Hathersage Brass Band is a thriving community band. We enjoy making music and have a good gig schedule. An opportunity has arisen for the right person to join our Principal Cornet Ed as co-principal. Are you up for the challenge? This is our only vacancy.
