Adam Shilton, Composer in Residence with the Co-operative Funeralcare Band North West and PhD student at MMU Cheshire, has followed on from his critically acclaimed Second World War composition, ‘Through the Pink Mist’ with a new work commemorating the heroes of The Great War.
1914
‘Where the Fallen Live Forever’ will also be combined with a specially produced film by Adam Capper with contributions from Mark Potts, to be performed in Crewe by the band on August 4th — the date Britain declared war on Germany in 1914.
Close connection
Adam (above)told 4BR: "’Through the Pink Mist’ was so well received that I seemed destined to continue the performance idea with ‘Where the Fallen Live Forever’.
This work has such a close connection to me as it commemorates the lives of soldiers from Crewe, many from my former regiment, so to be able to premiere in my home town on the centenary of this global event is a once in a lifetime opportunity and a real honour."

New ideas
He added: "Working through the piece with Jef Sparkes and the band has once again been outstanding. My compositions push the boundaries, but they are so supportive and open minded about my ideas.
It’s great to hold on to traditional idioms whilst driving new ones forward."
