Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Band has secured another new signing ahead of their short summer break before returning to prepare for the National Finals in Cheltenham in September.

Lynne Dennis joins on 3rd cornet from Pleasley Colliery Welfare to link up with close friend Karen Varley.

Commenting on her appointment Lynne told 4BR: "I’ve had so many great memories of Pleasley and great friends, but I feel it is time to move on to new challenges."

Nearly full strength

The band is now close to full strength and will be making an announcement on their vacant second trombone position, which will become vacant after Cheltenham due to the increased work commitments of the long serving Jim Hartley.
