Mossley changes aimed at Cheltenham

North West Area champion looks forward to Cheltenham with new changes in personnel.

Mossley

The Mossley Band has announced significant player moves as they look ahead to competing at the Second Section National Finals in Cheltenham in September.

New

After just completing her teaching studies at Huddersfield University, Maggie Spencer comes in on euphonium from Kirkbymoorside Band, whilst Tom Gibb becomes the band’s new principal cornet.

Tom takes over the end chair from Nicky Longden who due to work commitments has swapped seats with him to take on the flugel horn role.

Pleased

The North West Area champion's MD Duncan Byers told 4BR: "We are really pleased that Maggie has joined us.

We lost a really good player in Patrick Boaler when he left for University, but thankfully we have replaced him with another quality player who has fitted in immediately."

after a bit of musical chairs I feel that we are in the perfect position to head to CheltenhamMD, Duncan Byers

Experience

He added: "We were also sorry Nicky had to stand down as principal cornet, but thankfully we already had the perfect replacement in Tom Gibb who, like her, has a wealth of experience in top class banding.

Thankfully Nicky has agreed to continue on flugel, a position which she has successfully held with Leyland Band. So after a bit of musical chairs I feel that we are in the perfect position to head to Cheltenham."
