Following Foden’s successful premiere of Andy Scott’s New Music Biennial commission, ‘A Child Like You’ at London’s Southbank Centre last weekend, the live recording of the performance will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 later this week.

Music Biennial

The work will be featured alongside other new Music Biennial works as well as Anna-Clare Monk, Lauren Scott and four members of Foden’s Youth Band on the ‘Hear and Now’ programme at 10.00pm on Saturday 12th July, presented by Sara Mohr-Pietsch.

Questions

‘A Child Like You’ poses questions about children who are fostered, adopted or orphaned, drawing upon the real life experiences of a child refugee who fled Uganda in 1972 and lived with Andy Scott’s (above) own family.

Inspired by these real life events, Scott's new 15 minute mini-opera weaves together original text and music into a powerful and thought provoking work.

Special commissions

Staged by the PRS for Music Foundation to coincide with this year's Commonwealth Games, the first ever New Music Biennial showcases new commissions from a wide range of composers across the UK in two special events held in London and Glasgow.
