Mead duo set for Sydney

The euphonium duo of Steven and Misa Mead are heading for a first trip down under together.

The marital euphonium duo of Steven and Misa Mead will be guest soloists and clinicians at the forthcoming Sydney International Brass Festival which begins on July 9th.

World renowned

This prestigious event will also feature world renowned performers Rex Richardson (trumpet), Roland Szentpali (tuba), Michael Mulcahy and Nitzan Haroz (trombone) as well as the American Horn Quartet and guest ensembles including the Pacific Brass Band and the NSW Public Schools Symphonic Wind Ensemble.

The packed four day festival has attracted huge interested in Sydney and beyond with Steve performing two solo works in the opening gala concert and Hermann Pallhuber's ‘Bliss’ with the Pacific Brass the following evening.

Meanwhile, Misa will perform ‘Fantasia di Concerto’ by Boccalari, with the duo joining forces for the popular ‘Carmen Fantasy’ duet.

New Zealand

Following the Sydney event the pair will travel to New Zealand for masterclasses, workshops and concerts with Trust Porirua City Brass in Wellington and with the Deco Bay Napier Port Brass Band, before returning to Australia to work with the South Brisbane Federal Band and at the Brisbane Conservatory before flying back to the UK the following day.

For Steve it will be his first visit to New Zealand since 1990 when he played as guest soloist at the National Championships.

February 10 • Linthwaite are a friendly 4th section band looking forward to the Yorkshire area contest in March, following on from that we will have a vacancy for a 2nd cornet. We also have various contests and engagements coming up through the year to keep us busy.

February 7 • Our COMMUNITY BAND meets on a Monday morning and we welcome any players who would like an extra blow.. players of all abilities welcome and we do not expect you to alter your allegiance to your band.. just a fun blow with cake and coffee.

February 5 • Wantage Band (championship section) has a vacancy for TOP 2ND CORNET. This would suit a player with experience in a championship/first section band. Rehearsals take place every Sun 7:30pm and Wed 8pm in Wantage with highly experienced MD Chris King.
