David Maplestone takes over the MD role at Blackburn & Darwen Band.

Blackburn & Darwen Band has announced the appointment of David Maplestone (above) as their new Musical Director.

Success

The former Grimethorpe Colliery principal cornet and British Open Solo Champion of Great Britain has enjoyed considerable contesting success with the baton over the years, leading Staffordshire to the First Section National in 2002 and the Midlands Area Championship title in 2007.

He has also enjoyed success with the likes of Sovereign Brass, Phoenix West Midlands and BTM amongst others.

The band enjoyed their first concert with David at Bolton Parish Church on Saturday and look forward to working with him in the lead up to the Scottish Open and into 2015Band spokepserson
