Cory’s concert at the de Montfort Hall in Leicester on the weekend marked the final appearance with the Welsh band of their long serving BBb tuba player Fraser Bish.
Success
After 14 years at the heart of the National champion’s powerhouse, increased work commitments have meant after he has reluctantly had to call it a day, with a personal tally of major contest winning success that includes five British Opens, two Nationals, four Europeans, three Brass in Concert and eleven Welsh Area wins.
Commitment
Fraser told 4BR: "My work schedule on weekends means I can’t give the 100% commitment to the band it deserves.
I have always believed that if you are to play at the top level that is what you have to do, but even with Cory being amazingly accommodating I just can’t give that anymore."
I’ve had a fantastic time since Bob Childs persuaded me to join in the historic ‘Double’ year of 2000. Since then it’s been an amazing musical journey with so many highlightsFraser Bish
Fantastic time
He added: "I’ve had a fantastic time since Bob Childs persuaded me to join in the historic ‘Double’ year of 2000. Since then it’s been an amazing musical journey with so many highlights.
I can’t thank the Cory Band or the players enough for the friendship and success, and I hope it continues for them in the future under Philip Harper."
