The European Brass Band Association (EBBA) has announced that it will host the second European Youth Brass Band Contest as part of its 2015 championships in Freiburg, Germany.
Valuation
EBBA President Ulf Rosenberg reported: "This decision has been taken by EBBA’s Executive Committee following a high-level valuation of the inaugural European Youth Band Contest, held in Perth in May this year."
Eight bands participated in the inaugural event from Scotland, England, Northern Ireland, Norway and Switzerland, with the Norwegian representative Manger Skulemusikklag winning the Development Section and the Swiss of Liberty Brass Band Junior claiming the Premier Section title.
Active growth
He added: "We were delighted with the number of bands taking part in Perth, and the variety of countries represented. It was a clear signal of the active growth and support that exists for youth brass bands across Europe.
The Executive Committee of EBBA had no hesitation in agreeing to continue with the competition during next year’s European Championships in Freiburg, and we hope that even more bands will be
able to participate."
