The successful five and a half year musical partnership between John Davis and Dronfield Genquip Band has come to an end.

4BR has been informed that the musical partnership between conductor John Davis (above) and Dronfield Genquip Band has come to an end.

Titles

During his five and a half year tenure, the MD led the band to consecutive Fourth Section titles at the Butlins Mineworkers Championship, qualified for the National Finals three times and gained promotion from the Fourth to the Second Section, winning the Yorkshire Third Section Regional title in 2013.

Dramatic rise

Band spokesperson Adrian Wood told 4BR: "Under John’s leadership, the standard of the band rose dramatically. There have been many enjoyable concerts and events, and we would not be where we are today without his hard work."

He added: "The band would like to publicly thank John for the huge amount of time and effort he put in during his years as Musical Director and wish him the very best for the future.

With numerous other contest wins it is safe to say that John’s influence put Dronfield Band back on the banding map."

Thanks

John himself added: "I would like to place on record my thanks for the five and a half wonderful years I have had the privilege of being the band’s Musical Director.

Also for the collective and individual friendships made in this time and for the wonderful times we have had together."
