The experienced Derek Renshaw has become the new MD at Thoresby Colliery Band.

Thoresby Colliery Band has announced the appointment of Derek Renshaw as their new Musical Director.

Respected

The highly respected conductor recently worked with Unite the Union Band, enjoying an enviable track record of both concert and contest stage success, including leading them to the Yorkshire Area and First Section National titles in 2012.

A spokesperson told 4BR: “Derek will join the band's professional conductor Brian Grant in what promises to be a formidable conducting duo.”

Looking forward

Meanwhile Derek added: "I’m absolutely delighted with the appointment. I’m looking forward to working with a very talented and experienced band and helping develop them even further working alongside Brian Grant to achieve even more success in the future."

Derek will make his conducting debut with the band at a concert in Hucknall on July 5th.
