The London Symphony Orchestra has officially confirmed the appointment Peter Moore as its new Co-Principal Trombone. Aged 18, he becomes the youngest ever playing member in the orchestra’s history.
Graduate
Well known within the brass banding world through his own and his family connections, Peter is a graduate of the 2012 LSO Brass Academy — one of nine members of the LSO who have come through the innovative artist development scheme run by the orchestra, including principal trumpet Philip Cobb.
Winner
Peter became the youngest ever winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition in 2008 and studied under Philip Goodwin at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester and Ian Bousfield.
Following his Wigmore Hall debut in 2008, Peter has given recitals at venues and festivals throughout the world, whilst his debut CD recording of Edward Gregson’s ‘Trombone Concerto’ with the BBC Concert Orchestra was released in 2010 to critical acclaim. A recording with the Australian Brass Group Brass FX will be released shortly.
