The European Brass Band Association has confirmed the initial details of the 6th European Composers Competition, which will form part of the 2015 European Championships in Freiburg, Germany.
Opportunity
The competition aims to provide composers born after 1st January 1980 a unique opportunity to submit a new work for brass band.
The 2012 winner was Paul McGhee (above), with ‘Lullaby’, a work which took inspiration from a horror satire novel by the American writer Chuck Palahniuk, which saw the recitation of a poem imbue it with the malevolent ability to cull the people to whom it is read — men, women and children.
The best pieces will be selected to be performed at the Freiburg event where they will be performed by a leading German brass band.
