Salford University recently played host to a new Conducting & Performance Workshop led by Brett Baker, Gary Curtin and Ben Dixon.
The initiative was a ‘taster day’ for the new Salford Saturday Music School, which it is hoped will attract young performers to future weekend masterclasses and workshops on the campus.
Performances
The day included a short recital from the Black Dyke Junior Trombone Quartet, as well performances and guidance by the Black Dyke Youth Trombone Quartet, and Salford University Brass Ensemble, who were led by delegates and some prospective final year BA conducting students.
The RNCM quintet were also featured alongside short masterclasses from Black Dyke principal euphonium Gary Curtin and Ben Dixon, whilst a few Salford students were asked to perform a chosen piece for their upcoming performance exams and recitals.
