Smithills Schools Senior Band’s forthcoming trip to the USA has just received a wonderful boost from the Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton.

Stunned

Councillor and Mrs Colin Shaw, held their end of year cheque presentations in Bolton Town Hall where a dozen local organisations received a share of the money they had raised from their year in office.

In the Mayor’s speech, he said how ‘stunned’ by the ‘exceptional standard’ of the band at every concert they had attended, and as they were aware how hard the musicians had been raising money for their America tour, they presented a cheque for £1,000 to help towards the costs.

Smithills percussionist Max Ainsworth and MD Chris Wormald, were on hand to gratefully receive the cheque.
