At this year’s European Championships it was announced that Besson Musical Instruments had agreed to remain as the event’s main sponsor for the next three years.
Besson support
Speaking to 4BR in Perth, Tim Barrett of Besson said that the company was delighted to carry on its support for the Championships, something which had been in place since the inaugural event took place in London in 1978.

Rainy day
With additional support agreed from other major backers for the next few years, the annual accounts of the European Brass Band Association which were made public in Perth, also showed that the organisation has healthy reserves of around €100,000 to fall back on in case of ‘a rainy day’ as described by EBBA President Ulf Rosenberg at the EBBA Conference and AGM.
There, Ulf Rosenberg thanked the hard work of delegates from all countries as well that of the Music Commission and Executive Committee. "It has been another year of excellent progress," he said.
Profit
Despite overall sponsorship income falling slightly to €44,500 Euros in 2013, EBBA still managed to make a small profit for the year in which their flagship championship was held in Oslo, of just over €2,500 Euros.
Meanwhile, ongoing running costs for the organisation for the year ending 31st December 2014 are budgeted for €68,000, which excludes the costs EBBA will incur in running the 2015 European Championship in Freiburg, Germany.
