Year 6 pupils at Stansfield Hall Primary School have been working hard learning to play the cornet.
EMI funded
The instruments were funded by the EMI Sound Foundation and the school has been putting them to good use with 15 children and their class teacher (above) learning to play.
And keen to show off their new musical skills, the group, conducted by Gwen Smith, recently performed a concert to the whole school.
Musical talent
Gwen, who is Music Tutor at Wardle Academy told 4BR: "I’m really looking forward to working with more of the students and developing their musical talent in this wonderful way."

Good to see
Janet Emsley, Director of Performing Arts at Wardle Academy, added: "It’s good to see young people taking up music, and hopefully this will be the start of more musical groups at Stansfield Hall."
The latest initiative through Wardle Academy has seen the new group from the primary school join other partners to help nurture talent at a young age.
