New MD takes the reins at JSVB

The experienced Martyn Evans joins a famous list of conductors to lead the equally famous James Shepherd Versatile Brass group.

The James Shepherd Versatile Brass group has announced the appointment of Martyn Evans as their new Musical Director.

Conductors

Formed in 1972, Versatile Brass have performed around the world with distinction for over 40 years, and past MDs have included such famous names as Frank Renton, Ray Woodfield, David Loukes, Geoffrey Whitham, Garry Cutt and Ray Farr.

A JSVB spokesperson told 4BR: "Martyn is a highly respected and experienced conductor and we have been very impressed with the way in which he has approached the role.

We are all looking forward to working with him on our new CD, and other projects."

Proven track record

With proven track record of contest and concert successes to his name over four decades of brass band involvement, Martyn recently retired from his full time teaching role, although he continues to run and develop his successful company Classic Music Solutions Ltd and fulfil a busy freelance schedule as a teacher, adjudicator and conductor of Middleton Band.
