Yorkshire Area champion had a little bit of help recently to raise the roof of Halifax Minster.

Yorkshire Area champion Brighouse & Rastrick, recently joined forces with the Halifax Minster Choir to perform in concert at Halifax Minster.

Varied

The audience enjoyed a varied programme with music from both ensembles, as well as a number of joint items under the batons of MDs Allan Ramsay and Chris Brown.

Highlights included performances by star soloists Sheona White and Chris Brown, who thrilled the audience with his performance of Widor’s ‘Allegro’ from the 1st movement of Symphony No. 5, superbly played on the Minster’s Harrison & Harrison organ.

Evocative

One of the most evocative pieces saw choir and band perform ‘Hymn to the Fallen’ by John Williams mid the candlelight of the great church, before the band’s finale of Peter Graham’s ‘Shine as the Light’ and joint encore of ‘On Ilkley Moor baht 'at’ that sent the audience home full of Yorkshire pride.
