Saturday night is band night on the Welsh television channel S4C as the first semi final of the innovative Band Cymru 2014 competition is broadcast at 9.00pm.

£10,000 prize

The contest brings together brass, wind and jazz bands from all over Wales to compete for the chance to win £10,000.

Well known presenters Morgan Jones and Elin Llwyd will guide viewers through S4C's battle of the bands, and on Saturday 26th viewers will see Tongwynlais Temperance up against, Tryfan Jazz Band, and Symphonic Brass of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Following rounds

In the following rounds there is a clash between Northop Silver, the Teddy Smith Big Band and Tredegar, with the following week, Tylorstown, Chamber Winds, and Capital City Jazz Orchestra locking horns.

The last semi final sees the Liberty Big Band up against James Clark's Lonely Hearts Rugby Clwb, and Cory.
