O'Connor to be celebrated with evening of music

The life of the respected brass band conductor Graham O'Connor is to be celebrated in a special concert — and you can be a part of it too.

Graham oconnor

There will be a special opportunity to help celebrate the life of the respected conductor Graham O’Connor next month, when the joint forces of Dodworth Colliery and Hatfield Colliery Bands combine for a concert in his honour on Sunday 11th May.

Invitation

A special invitation has been opened to any players who would like to take part in the event, which will be compered and directed by Stan Lippeatt and Dodworth MD, Eliot Darwin.

Born and bred

Graham was born and grew up in Dodworth near Barnsley, and was the MD of Dodworth Colliery Band for many years, leading them into the Championship Section.

He was also closely associated with Hatfield Band, and so it was felt that the contribution that Graham made to the brass band movement should be recognized in no better way than an evening of great music making.

Time and place

The event takes place at The Fairways Hotel, Dodworth. Admission is free with a collection for the British Lung Foundation on the evening. Graham, himself, had been a recipient of a double lung transplant.

Players who would like to take part in the event are asked to register their interest as soon as possible with Stan Lippeatt4BR
