North of England regional champion Reg Vardy will be taking part in one of the most important open air community events of the year this Friday, when they play a part in the Great North Passion,

The re-enactment of the last hours of Christ’s life in music and drama will be broadcast from Bents Park in South Shields on Friday, 18th April, at 12.00pm on BBC 1, and is a major collaboration between local musicians and artists, culminating in a giant crucifix art installation at the park made from 80 shipping containers, representing the stations of the cross.
Also appearing are Alexandra Burke and opera singer Graham Danby, who will lead the massed choir. A huge audience in the park will be joined nationwide by television viewers.
