Huge financial boost for Granite City

Scottish First Section Champion Granite City has received a great double injection of financial sponsorship following their title success.

Recently crowned Scottish First Section Champion, Granite City Brass has plenty to cheer about following news that they are to benefit from two generous sponsorship offers.

Craig Group Ltd., a global shipping and energy services company based in Aberdeen, have agreed to become their principal sponsor, having offered a donation of several thousand pounds per year.

Strong relationship

Craig Group Chairman and Managing Director, Douglas Craig stated that “he looked forward to a strong relationship ahead.”

This financial support comes at the perfect time, as Granite has recently moved out of their original home at Stoneywood Paper Mill into rented accommodation at the welcoming Inchgarth Community Centre.

Final support

In addition, they have received another most generous offer from even closer to home, with news that their forthcoming trip to the National Finals in Cheltenham is to be paid for with a gift from their Honorary President, Edward J Paley.

Eddie Paley has been involved with the band for many years, having served as Musical Director from 1973 to 1988, and 'guest conducted' many times in concert and contest performances in the years that followed.

Mr Paley has kindly agreed to pick up the bill for air travel, hotel accommodation and all other costs relating to the Finals trip, for which the Band members are extremely grateful.

The overwhelming generosity of our band President Eddie Paley in sponsoring the band's attendance at the forthcoming Nationals though is almost too much to take inBand Secretary, Martin Neale

Real high

Band Secretary, Martin Neale told 4BR: "We are on a real high at the moment. Not only have we achieved Championdhip status, but also the financial stability which the Craig Group Ltd sponsorship brings.

The overwhelming generosity of our band President Eddie Paley in sponsoring the band's attendance at the forthcoming Nationals though is almost too much to take in.

We now look to the future with such eager expectation!"
