Burton tailored for Canning role

Richie Burton is the new man with the baton at Canning City Band in Western Australia.

The Canning City Band in Western Australia has announced it has appointed Richie Burton to the position of Musical Director.

Experience

Scottish born Richie has travelled extensively, working with top bands around the globe, and over a period of ten years played principal trumpet for the Scotland, Dartmouth and the Royal Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines, as well as previously playing cornet with Bo'ness & Carriden Band.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Richie.

We perform at over 20 engagements each year including naturalisation ceremonies, street marches, public concerts and state and national contests."

In 2013 Canning City won the Australian National B Grade title.
