Wingates to play Windsor

Wingates will be helping to revive one of the great banding concert venues of the North West ahead of their Blackpool challenge.

The Wingates Band is set to stage an innovative local concert in a bid to help revive the fortunes of a famous North West concert venue.

The free concert will take place at ‘The Windsor Suite’ of the Bolton Mercure Georgian House Hotel, in Bolton — a venue that for many years saw highly popular Sunday evening brass band concerts — most with a dedicated musical theme.

Working together

Now, the band will work together with an enthusiastic hotel management team to try and bring back regular concerts — with the first featuring Wingates taking place on Sunday 13th April.

Top flight

MD Paul Andrews told 4BR that he promises the audience an entertaining evening, which will also include an insight into how a top flight Championship Section band prepares a test piece for a major event.

"We hope to help revive a great series at a fine venue," he said.

"The first concert is free, and will include plenty of entertaining music as well as something a little different with a performance insight into ‘English Heritage’, which the band will play at the Senior Cup a couple of weeks later."
