The Amersham Band is still celebrating their promotion to the Second Section following their solid sixth place finish at the recent London & Southern Counties Area contest in Stevenage.
Although the band was disappointed they did not qualify for the National Finals for a second successive year, together with last year’s victory at the event it means they will now play in the higher section from 2015.
First time
Band Chairman Fred Harrison told 4BR: "This is the first time in our 170 year history that we have reached this level, an achievement which recognises the growing strength of the band."

Over the Summer the band will be keeping busy with its regular programme of concerts and events and will also compete once more at the Saddleworth Whit Friday contests.
Meanwhile, the newly formed Amersham Community Brass Band for developing players will also feature in several concerts this summer.
