Brighouse set for international competition

The famous banding town of Brighouse will be hosting another great March & Hymn Contest this year.

4BR has been informed that organisers of the Brighouse March & Hymn Tune Contest hope to see yet another wonderful day of competitive music making in the iconic brass banding town on Sunday 29th June.

Tour de France

Just a week before the Tour de France comes to Calderdale, another big crowd is guaranteed to enjoy world class competition with visitors from far and wide enjoying the special atmosphere the event creates.

Since the first festival was held 15 years ago, the event has become one of the most popular in the banding calendar.

This year, 26 bands from Youth to Championship status will keep the non-stop music flowing as they march along Bethel Street to the Town Hall Square where they will perform their hymn tune & contest march selections.

Judges

Adjudicators are Chris Jeans, Derek Southcott and Pascal Eicher, who will have a big job awarding the many prizes on offer, with Marsden Silver back to defend their title.

The Saturday evening gala concert will be provided by the wonderful Boobs & Brass under the baton of Stan Lippeatt.

Alder Valley Brass

June 19 • Bb bass player. We are an ambitious, busy and sociable 2nd section band (L&SC, National finalists 2023) with a varied blend of engagements, concerts and contests. We rehearse 8-10pm Mondays and Thursdays in Farnham, Surrey. Other enquiries welcome.

June 17 • Our COMMUNITY BAND meet again on Monday (22nd) and we welcome players of all standards to join us for a relaxed,friendly rehearsal with Tea and cake and it’s all free.. Rehearsals are at 11am in our own bandroom playing with us does not effect your band.

June 16 • Longridge Band invite applications for the positions of Flugel and Eb Bass.. We are a friendly and committed band that enjoys a great balance of concerts and contests throughout the year. A contribution to travel expenses are provided.
