Marsden response sees date change

A great response from entrants sees the Marsden Solo, Duet & Quartet Contest change its date.

Following an overwhelming response, the Marsden Solo, Duet & Quartet Contest has been rearranged and will now take place on Sunday 1st June at Marsden Junior School, starting at 10.00am.

Technical

This year sees the addition of a ‘Technical Solo’ category, where any work shows off the competitor’s technical ability, from an Air Varie to a movement from a Concerto can be performed.

Solo prize

In addition to the usual generous prizes, the winners of the Overall Junior and Overall Senior awards will have a piece written for them by Dave Collins, Composer in Residence with Fishburn & City of Cardiff (Mellingriffith) Bands.

An accompanist will be available with hot and cold food provided. Marsden MD, Glyn Williams will adjudicate.

Tintwistle Band

July 16 • We have a vacancy for soprano cornet, and with lots of exciting engagements coming up would love to get this seat filled! As a second section band,we rehearse every Monday and Thursday 8-10pm at our bandroom in Tintwistle under the baton of MD Jim Henson.


City of Norwich Brass

July 14 • Our COMMUNITY BAND are meeting again on MONDAY 20th at 11 am in our bandroom.. We would welcome players of all ages and abilities to join us for a friendly relaxed rehearsal.. Of course there is tea and cake !!!. And you can even choose a piece to play
