Cory Academy set to celebrate first birthday

The Cory Academy is looking even more players as it celebrates the end of a fantastic first year.

Cory Academy

In April, the Cory Academy will celebrate its first birthday.

The first year has been a busy one; including the initial launch event, working with existing youth bands, setting up new bands and providing two weekend tuition sessions with another to be held at the end of March.

Celebrate

To celebrate the anniversary the European, National and Brass in Concert champion is to hold weekend workshops on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd March to all young brass players between 7 & 17 years of age.

Tuition and fun

A Band spokesperson told 4BR: "Our previous weekend events have provided tuition and fun performance opportunities to the young people of the Academy member bands.

For this final event of our first year we want to make it available to all young people who are learning a brass instrument or who are looking to develop their playing further by receiving expert tips and guidance from the Cory Academy tutors."

New sessions

There are two separate sessions:

a) Saturday 22nd March will be an all day event from 10.00am – 4.00pm for intermediate/advanced players with a minimum playing standard of Grade 3 or equivalent.

At the end of the day there will be a short concert for friends and family to come along for the young people to show off their hard work.

b) Sunday 23rd March will run from 11.00am – 3.00pm for beginner players or players below Grade 3 standard.

At the end of the day there will be a short concert for friends and family to come along for the young people to show off their hard work.
