Great response to Foden's competition

Thee has been a great composer's response to Foden's latest musical initiative.

Fodens in action

Well over 60 entries have already been received by the Foden’s Band in response to the launch of their Composer Competition.

Applications

Speaking about the initiative Mark Wilkinson told 4BR: "To date we have received 63 application requests across the two age group sections.

The competition follows on from our youth education work and other innovative events such as the hosting of the Allan Withington Conducting School in July."

Great prizes

He added: "There are some great prizes on offer with the winning compositions being published as well as being performed on the Allan’s course.

In addition to the cash prizes, the pieces will also be recorded on the next Foden’s ‘Patron’s Choice’ CD release as well as being performed at the 2015 RNCM Festival of Brass and by the Foden's Youth Band.

Foden's is also looking for potential sponsor's for the contest and any interested company is asked to contact myself.”

Open

The composer’s competition is open to overseas composers and the deadline to submit works is the 21st April.

The judging panel will comprise Michael Fowles, Paul Hindmarsh, Dr Peter Meechan and Philip Sparke.
