Elland Silver Youth celebrate entertainment prizes

Elland Silver Youth is celebrating after its recent success at the Action Research Entertainment Contest in Blackpool.

Elland Silver Youth Band is still celebrating after being crowned ‘Most Entertaining Band’ at the recent Action Medical Research Youth Entertainment Championship in Blackpool.

Second overall

The band was placed second overall and received awards for the ‘Best Horn Section’ and ‘Stage Deportment’for their programme, ‘Let’s Dance’ which was inspired by musical styles from Baroque to 70’s pop hits, and featured talented trombonist Charlotte Horsfield, aged fourteen who performed ‘Vienna Woods’.

The set was specially arranged for the band by Murray Greig, principal trumpet of Opera North and Simon Wood, former MD of the Hade Edge Band.

The result adds to the band’s long list of achievements at the contest. In the past 6 years they have has consistently claimed podium finishes and were winners in 2010 and 2012.

Musical Director, Samantha Harrison told 4BR: "I was thrilled with the performance on the day and it couldn’t have been any better.

The band has worked extremely hard since Christmas and it was great to see it all come together on stage and hear the reaction from the audience."

Croy Silver Band

June 1 • Croy Silver Band currently has contest vacancies on Cornet and Percussion, but we always welcome enquiries for any section of the band. We rehearse in Croy on Monday and Thursday evenings from 7:30pm.


Epping Forest Band
